283mm W x 303mm H
Glass Series 2.0
Mixed Media on 3 layers of glass with backing - Framed
About the Artwork:
Jen Heads is a recurring motif by artist Jenna Ingram. The layered transparency of the glass panes creates both visual and metaphorical depth behind the mask-like face - stoic and unwavering in its gaze. The front layer of glass is painted on the back side of the face area, reinforcing the notion that while we may project an outward calm, the inner workings of the mind can be far more turbulent and complex.
Organic and abstract elements drift upward like memories, thoughts, or emotions slowly surfacing or being released. In Growth & Change, flora and fauna symbolise the graceful, ongoing evolution of the natural world. In contrast, the sharper, more abstract forms introduce tension, reminders that change also carries discomfort, uncertainty, and moments of unease.
About the Artist: Jenna Ingram is a versatile artist who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Canterbury University in 2007. Her creative journey has spanned various mediums and styles, including portraiture, landscapes and cityscapes. However, over the past eight years, she has dedicated her practice exclusively to urban art through her signature character, Jen Heads. This "mask" has undergone numerous iterations, reflecting Ingram's lived and artistic evolution. In addition to her work as an artist, Ingram works full-time as a Picture Framer, is a mother and has also been instrumental in managing her and her husband's business, Fiksate Gallery (now online only) for the last 10 years, further contributing to the urban contemporary art community.
