Jen - Risograph Head print

Limited edition risograph print run by resident artist Jen.

Jen heads are inspired by human emotions and the human psyche. The simplistic shape of a wide-eyed, symmetrical face is used as a core grounding; an image taken from a star and moons duvet when Jenna was a teenager. The sharpened teeth push a friendly face into a monster-like resemblance that disturbs any generalisation on face value alone. Criss-crossing lines separate the head into sections, and within these, various patterns and elements are contained within. These details speak to the ever changing and building of human experience, memory and emotion. You will always find one eye crying.
Jen completed a BFA at Canterbury University in 2007, and has exhibited in group shows at the SoFA Gallery (2005, 2006) and a solo show at L’Estrange Gallery (2009).

"If a photocopier and a screen printer had a baby, it would be the Risograph printer. Created in Japan in the mid ‘80s, they’re often used by schools and churches to churn out large amounts of brochures at a very low cost. Like screen-printing, you can use different vibrant inks to layer many different colours on one at a time." - M.K. Press
