SHADOW TOWN by Ghostcat
Opening 5:00pm Friday 9 April
Shadow Town is an exhibition by local and up & coming artist Ghostcat, which explores the overlooked, forgotten and often grimy side of our city…. in miniature form.
Miniature urban objects sit next to Christchurch buildings of the past, scratch-built to every minute detail. Do you miss The Ministry Nightclub? The green M is glowing once more in this exhibition!
The viewer will feel nostalgia and wonder and will be drawn into the works which demand closer inspection.
There will be a blank door for the audience to participate in drawing on and there will be a silent auction for this door with all proceeds going to The Chch City Mission.

About the Artist:
"Ghostcat, sometimes known as Mike Beer, is a UK-born, Christchurch-based artist and maker with a varied background across the creative spectrum. From a pathway including tattooing, theatre prop production and purveyor of pop culture, Ghostcat has since made waves with his scratch-built miniatures. Enamoured with 80s horror movies and influenced by outsider culture and urban decay, his output ranges from damaged heritage buildings and graffitied dumpsters to retro VHS tapes. His work not only intricately recreates tiny details, but is also imbued with connections to memory, place, and community, as well as a healthy dose of humour." - Dr. Reuben Woods.
